Paul Keefer, Director Emeritus & Founder
Retiring to Charleston from Richmond, VA in 2014, Paul started a Bikes for the World satellite operation locally the next year. In 2017 the group collected then shipped 2000 bikes to Central America from Charleston. The next year Paul recognized a need to serve the people of Charleston and established Second Chance Bikes. Paul graduated from Marietta College and earned an MBA from the University of Georgia in 1974. He had a 22 year Finance career with Philip Morris and is a retired U.S. Navy Captain. A lifelong love of sports and a passion for good causes, Paul is driven to bring simple, affordable, and reliable transportation to those who really need it.
Wayne Wert, MUSC
Dr. Weart is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Outcome Sciences in the South Carolina College of Pharmacy, Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), as well as Professor of Family Medicine in the College of Medicine, MUSC. He serves as a member of the Trident United Way Community Investment Review Team and is one of many Hot Dog Ministry volunteers involved with serving the homeless of Charleston. Dr. Weart also is very active in his church serving on several committees and as a prayer partner.
Linda Ligenza, LCSW, Co-Chair
Linda Ligenza, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and clinical services director for the National Council for Behavioral Health. She provides guidance and technical assistance to SAMHSA-HRSA grantees on integrating primary care and behavioral health on behalf of the SAMHSA-HRSA Center for Integrated Health Solutions (CIHS). Ligenza has a background in clinical, administrative and public policy work based on her 30-year career.
Holly Ash, Co-Chair
Holly Ash has specialized in healthcare, Medicare, commercial, life, and disability insurance products for the residents of John’s Island since 2009 through Ash Insurance Agency. Holly has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Kent State University and a master’s in finance from the University of Akron.
A lifelong resident of Charleston, Gage Cooper has over 15 years of experience in the bike industry. In 2015 he opened Cooper River Cycles, Daniel Island’s first and only bike shop. He and his wife Cat have one child and another on the way.
